In the field linguistics, DCT is one of the most effective tools to study the behavior of communication learners. It can be used to investigate numerous issues, like politeness, turn-taking, and lexical choices. It can be used to assess the level of phonological sophistication in learners in their speech. A recent study employed a DCT to assess EFL students' ability to resist. Participants were given a set of scenarios to choose from, and then asked to choose the most appropriate response. The results indicated that the CLKs frequently chose to resist native Korean pragmatic norms, and their decisions were influenced by four primary factors such as their identities, their multilingual identities, their ongoing life histories, and relational advantages. These findings have implications for pedagogy for L2 Korean assessment. First, the MQ data were analysed to identify the participants' choices in terms of their pragmatics. The data was categorized according Ishihara (2010)'s definition of pragmatic resistance. Then, we compared the choices with their linguistic performance on DCTs to determine if they were a sign of pragmatic resistance. In addition, the interviewees were asked to explain their choices of behavior in a specific situation. The results of the MQs, DCTs and z-tests were analyzed with descriptive statistics and z tests. The CLKs were discovered to employ euphemistic phrases such as “sorry” or “thank you”. Refusal Interviews (RIs) The most important question in pragmatic research is: why do some learners choose not to accept native-speaker norms? Recent research sought to answer this question using a variety of experiments, including DCTs MQs and RIs. The participants consisted of 46 CLKs, 44 CNSs and 45 KNSs from five Korean universities. The participants were asked to complete the DCTs and MQs in their L1 or L2 levels. Then they were invited to attend a RI where they were asked think about their responses to the DCT situations. The results showed that CLKs on average, did not follow the norms of native speakers in more than 40% of their responses. They did this even though they were able to create patterns that were similar to native speakers. They were also aware of their pragmatism. They attributed their choice to learner-internal variables such as their personalities and multilingual identities. They also mentioned external factors, like relational advantages. They outlined, for instance how their interactions with their professors helped them to perform more comfortably in terms of the linguistic and social expectations of their university. However, the interviewees also expressed concerns about the social pressures and consequences that they might be subjected to if they strayed from their local social norms. They were concerned that their native interlocutors might view them as “foreignersand consider them ignorant. This concern was similar to the concerns expressed by Brown (2013) and Ishihara (2009). These findings suggest that native-speakers' pragmatic norms are not the norm for Korean learners. They may still be a useful model for official Korean proficiency tests. But it is advisable for future researchers to reassess their relevance in specific scenarios and in different cultural contexts. This will help them better understand the effects of different cultural contexts on the classroom behavior and interactions of students from L2.
